Professor Yuta TSUJI

About the Research

My research uses quantum-mechanics-based theoretical calculations to investigate the properties of materials and molecules at the atomic and electronic levels. In particular, I focus on catalyst materials for producing hydrogen through water electrolysis and explore the potential of new oxide materials composed of multiple metallic elements. More recently, I have also been incorporating machine-learning methods to efficiently identify high-performance materials, with the aim of contributing to a sustainable energy society.

 

A Message from Professor

Research often involves tackling problems for which answers cannot be found immediately, but the process can lead to new perspectives and discoveries. Science and engineering offer many different entry points, including chemistry, physics, mathematics, and information science, and as you deepen your studies, a theme that truly suits you gradually comes into view. Rather than comparing yourself too much with others, I hope you will value your own interests and your desire to learn.

 

Profile

Professor Yuta TSUJI

Completed the doctoral program in the Department of Molecular and Materials Science, Graduate School of Engineering, Kyushu University. After serving as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Chemistry at Cornell University, a specially appointed assistant professor at the Institute for Materials Chemistry and Engineering, Kyushu University, an assistant professor at the International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research and the Educational Center for Molecular Systems Devices, and an assistant professor at the Institute for Materials Chemistry and Engineering, Kyushu University, he assumed his current position in 2026.
