About the Research
While the burning of matter is generally referred to as ‘combustion’, the process that is mediated by nuclear reactions rather than chemical reactions is called ‘nuclear combustion’. Nuclear combustion occurs in the universe (such as the Sun) and in the cores of fusion and fission reactors. In our efforts to understand and induce nuclear combustion safely, stably and efficiently, we are conducting research and development into energy production technologies that utilise this phenomenon.
A Message from Professor
It is essential that research be enjoyable. Research involves approaching phenomena with curiosity to understand them, and then transforming that understanding into new ideas to pave the way for their practical application. Research brings together a range of skills that will undoubtedly be essential wherever you go in the future, including comprehension, creativity, adaptability, problem-solving and response skills, communication skills, language proficiency, and the ability to present and explain ideas. I hope that through research, you will hone the skills that will propel you forward into the future.
