Power electronics has become increasingly important, supporting the rapid advancement of civilization over the past century, as well as the recent electrification of automobiles and the electrification of intellectual activity, as exemplified by AI. Especially, the rapid evolution of IoT, the electrification of automobiles, and increasing performance and functionality in the consumer sector are driving endless demands for evolution and innovation in the entire power electronics system.
In our laboratory, we are working on multiple themes in power devices, the key semiconductor elements in power electronics, based on new ideas, through joint research with companies and collaboration with multiple universities and companies via general incorporated associations. Each theme focuses on creating major innovations in products in the near future, and we also place importance on reproducing new ideas by discussing and sharing the technologies and methodologies of all the themes among all members.
